Whiner's Corner - Worst vacation getaway ever!

Sorry for the negative vibes but I had post this in the public interest.

I just got back today Friday 7/6/2012 from what was supposed to be an extended weekend at Cape Lookout where I have had fun in years past on occasion camping.  Having not been there in several years I called the ferry services: that service the Cape Lookout area to ask if they could still run me with my camping gear and kayak, this…

Tuesday-Wednesday, 2-3rd

Okay, time to see who the REALLY dedicated windsurfers are.... Just kidding, but it should be pretty good this afternoon and tomorrow with forecasted 15-25 and higher gusts. Yes, it's going to be chilly, but if there's any consolation, the water is really warm. I'd say in the lower 60's in Blythe Cove.  I'll try to leave work early today. If the gates are closed, the dogs are probably out back. If open, we've put them in the house.

No Wind Day Maintenance On My Gear

Hey everyone,

Been pulling my hair out waiting for wind. Got bit by the sailing bug pretty bad and am anxious to keep going. I did get used gear, and figured I could tweak it up while I wait for the wind. Looking to see what you all have suggestions for rigging rope, and where to buy.

Also.......I want to regrip both my booms. I have seen a couple of kits on-line.....but want to see what you all suggest. It doesn't look like it would be something…

Not looking to drive too far but was wondering if anyone is going to be hanging around the lakes or whereever the other launch spots are. Since I'm new....I was looking to be shown some of the spots and also be told if I was doing something dumb. Can't wait hit the water again!! Thanks everyone!!

Saturday-Sunday, 17-18th

The maps are staying surprisingly consistent. I hope they hold. If they do, the weekend should be really nice at the coast for NE winds. If I go, I'll probably head down Friday evening and sail all day Saturday. Doubtful I can stick around Sunday.

The wall, Columbia river

What an awesome trip.We had wind every day.I windsurfed five out of seven with two rest days.Largest sail was a 4.7 and smallest a 4.2.My last day was at the wall.By far the best place for me.The wall is famous for big swell and big wind.It is also the easiest place to sail compared to the Hatchery or Swell city in my opinion since the water is so smooth. We found this small beach to launch from. The car was parked a few feet away.Alan posted a couple of pictures from the wall. The best day for me… Continue

Mac and I got in early afternoon yesterday.   Awesome first day at Baja with chest to head 95ltr 4.5 Ezzy.  We took an hour bike ride to the badlands at sunset and then woke up this morning to the best SUP session we have had... I had just caught a wave and was paddling back up when I watched Mac slashing on a monster.  A fan base of around 5-6 seals was enjoying watching the show.  Hope to get some shots out soon....not many yesterday as too busy having fun.  Will keep you posted.

Commercial promotion

We need to discuss how much commercialism we can allow on this chatboard. In our sport, it seems the shops play a huge part in keep the excitement going. For instance, Mac and Rob's trip to Mexico via Solo Sports is turning into an annual trip for the club, and Andy Mckinney and Charlie at Ride Hatteras both support our groups with discounts. I also have links on the site to shops; however, sooner or later, we'll have to draw a line between… Continue
