"Yes,  Linville River Access on 126.  Great view of Shortoff Mountain and the mouth of the Linville Gorge once you get out on the water.  This has been my go to spot when the wind is blowing!"

"I've found the following works: test that sort of works: borrow it or lend it to a good friend to use, either way  a very good chance it break under just about any conditions, test that always works: sail it offshore a little more than 7…"

"Most of my broken masts have been in waves, my suggestion would be a close visual, for small cracks or camber groves & ect. unless you get alot of water time it takes a long time to fatigue one to failure. "

"Good question. Only time I've retired them is after they actually break. Most of the time that's happened when I get tossed in the ocean and am not too far from shore. Sorry that I can't answer the question."

  Fri & Sat look like rain outs with plenty of N/E wind, Sun looks sunny with strong N becoming N/N/E by mid day, Sun looks N/N/E a bit more moderate. Badin may be a better call if you don't mind a 35 or so more mile drive. There has been a fence added along the north side of Beatties ford launch, making hi-wind launching a bit more difficult
